Welding Floor Pans. I am installing floor pans. My plan was if my welding job proved disastrous I would just replaced the entire floor.
Once thats done the floor pan weld will likely not be visible at all. For welding in floor pans you wont have warping because must of the welds are spotplug welds in the field of the piece where it lies on the frame rail and gets tacked to the flanges thereof. With the flux core you just need to make sure the welding surface is pretty clean a good once over with.
Another option is using panel adhesive to put the floors in along with some plug welds to be extra sure.
Once thats done the floor pan weld will likely not be visible at all. However butt welding looks better and leaves no overlaps but it is a longer process. Jul 7 2009 Posts. Dont run a continuous bead do a weld maybe an inch long then move to.
