Wood Floor Bugs. They often attack hardwoods that are already a subject of rot and decay issues. If youve opened your flour and found it crawling with small pests you probably have weevils.
Since weevils can lay a few eggs a day for months you might be dealing with flour weevils for a while. This type of bugs leaves larger holes in the timber. Of these termites both subterranean termites and drywood termites carpenter ants and certain powderpost beetles are the primary insects that can destroy wood.
Fine powdery bore dust associated with emergence holes.
Anobiid beetles prefer older wood and have been known to infest spruce and pine products as well as hard woods. When pin-sized holes and sawdust are discovered on hardwood floors the culprit is usually a powderpost beetle. It is caused by emerging adult beetles. Hatching larvae bore into the wood and can result in extensive damage.
